By iterating the cell like structures that comprise the whole of the Banksia pod I am attempting to demonstrate the recurring patterns in nature that symbolize the ‘separate’ comprising the ‘whole’. I find nature to be a reflection of the human condition, providing clues to the meaning of the puzzle of existence. This work is an exploration of separation and connection. Like nature, the collective human existence can be broken into iterated pieces, which is the separation of individual identity. Conversely, we are like natures iterations of separate pieces, together comprising the whole as one, the tantalising puzzle of existence.
